DIWALI POEM

Tuesday, October 21st, 2025

Toronto, Ontario

Here is a poem to honour Diwali which will be read at the Legislative Building at Queen’s Park, the capital of Ontario.

DIWALI POEM

The world is dark and upside down

Crime and confusion we see all around

It need not be the actual norm

We would like it to take a new form

Darkness is the absence of light

Insert light, darkness, be out-of-sight

We celebrate Diwali for this occasion

The people of Ayodhya had this persuasion

Let us restart, try it again

For the sake of every last citizen

Reconcile, go right-side up

May peace prevail and never stop

Let us truly advance then

And prove we are human

Make an actual hero’s vow

Respect, be grateful right now

Jaya Sita Rama
