DAY FOUR IN HOLLAND

Hilversum, Netherlands

Wow!  At the starting point at Weesp Station, out of the dark dawn appeared this couple, Ab and Yolanda.  They are nephew and niece, whom I never met before in my whole life.  Somehow, that means there is a sharing of karma, good karma, I would say through a bloodline.  Between the two, according to Yolanda, the relations are from both sides of my parents.

What fine people they are!  Ab has grown tomatoes all his life and began his business at age 18.  He told me of the devastating hail storm from the past which in three minutes practically destroyed his business.  The hail came down the size of golf balls.

With other enthusiasts joining us, folks from Ukraine, Scotland, India, Canada, and Holland, we tread a straight path along the Vecht River passing by Fort Vitermeer, the woods in Trimbaan Fransekomp, and HIlversum Mediapark where the nation’s media offices lie and ended at the LIebergerweg sports ground.

We met journalist, Welmood, from newspaper, De Gooie – en Eemlandder.  That was fun.  She sat with our walking team and enjoyed (apart from the interview), our brunch of wraps and spicy rice.  We met at the woods whose forest floor is covered in chestnuts.  Companion, Jayden from Canada, and I  were wondering where the squirrels are.  They would go nuts here.

Throughout this great land of the Netherlands/Holland, you have in the forests a path for cars, a path for horses, a path for pedestrians, and then the cycle path.  Did someone say “psychopath”?  That’s what it sounded like.  With the speed some of the cyclists tread, you would think there is something insane.
