A day to Honour

Uptown Toronto

He’s 24 today. He drove me around to places I needed to go such as Brampton and Uptown Toronto, and he didn’t say anything about it being his birthday. That’s humility, I would think. Moreover, he’s funny and always smiles. He has a keen love for kirtan and like to serve those in the mission. He has a respect for all, whether the men or the women in the Bhakti Academy. He also has a knack for distribution of the books published by the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust.

The above is a list of some of the good qualities he possesses, apart from being a good driver. His name is Nityananda, and like the bhakti icon that his name is modeled after, he is kind. Very!

Additionally he is loyal and dependable I can rely on him. This morning he sat near me as we chanted Japa meditation together and also at the time of darshan or greeting the deities of Krishna after offering diyas or ghee lamps to their lordships. When I need Nityananda I call on his name as his room is next to mine.

On the zoom call I conducted today we carried the theme of “support” a way of tackling the tragic culture of today’s alienation and loneliness. So, throwing a birthday party for on worthy or even one unworthy, we arrange a cake, and melt the heart of the recipient ( like the lit candle on the cake) and increase the worthiness.
