Centre Island, Toronto

Lovely day! I mean the weather - perfect! Centre Island really is a piece of heaven, especially with the presence of Jagannatha deities. Every year Vandita, our decorator for the temple, makes it quite gorgeous. It is a temporary temple but each year she puts a totally new spin onto it. Very attractive.

Visiting me to the island were two cousins of mine. Corry and Jeanette are in town and decided to catch me at this special place. To be more clear, Corry resides in Toronto and she is not that far from our year-round temple on Avenue Road. But it's Jeanette whom if you ask where her home is, and she will respond with a, "Nowhere." The reason - she lives at sea, mostly the South Pacific. She has for years been a lover of the deep waters as a scuba diving instructor. She showed me her shark jaw scars to prove it.

I spent a good four hours with my relatives and I guess you could say it was the first time they really got to know me and my lifestyle. I was super glad they could stay to see some of the cultural events including the drama I directed, "Big Fish, Little Fish."

It was rather humorous. We were sitting in the front row and there were three empty seats to my right. Two thirds of the way through the drama three unruly boys (brothers, I think) decided to sit down making some noticeable noise. There is a scene where the main actor, Little Fish, is tripping on drugs when his part calls for connecting with audience. When he delivers the line, in his stupor condition, laughing, he points at them, saying, "You potato heads!" the audience burst out in thunderous laughter. The boys were pudgy in appearance.

That remark shocked them, made them freeze momentarily.
